According to the US Playstation blog Fat princess is coming to the PSN this week and I’m pretty excited about it. Recent PSN videos of this anarchic online game have been delightfully dark and full of black comedy – the “cutesy” graphics serving to offset the blood and gore.
The game will cost UK Playstation Owners £11.99, in the US its $14.99.
At a few quid more than Battlefield 1943 it doesn’t seem as good a deal as it might a few weeks ago… but for me EA’s title is still very much broken with both VOIP and squad features not working as advertised.
The premise of “Fat Princess” will be familiar to anyone who has played a FPS “Capture the flag” game. You have in your castle the enemy teams princess and they have yours in their castle. It’s your goal to rescue your princess while preventing your opponents from getting theirs… in order to make things harder for them you can feed your prisoner cake, which makes her gain weight and ultimately makes her a lot harder for the opposing team to rescue.
I’m really hoping that Fat Princess will offset the onslaught of FPS games that are so prevalent on the next gen consoles – here’s to hoping enough people download it to make it worth their while. The way I look at it if you wanted to have 12 goes on a modern arcade machine you’d easily spend as much if not more.
Expect a review sometime after thursday.
