The cast, headed by Joe Thomas and Jack Whitehall, did a good job of making the jokes seem unforced but nothing about the show really stood out as being fresh or new and there was little memorable about the episode.
The opening episodes of Peep Show (with which Fresh Meat shares its creators), Skins, The Inbetweeners and even Friday Night Dinner all instantly communicated that they were different from anything which had gone before.
In contrast, Fresh Meat felt pretty familiar. Hopefully that sense of ordinariness will lessen now the inevitable and unavoidable introductions are out of the way.
One to keep an eye on but not the instant hit one might have hoped for.
