Filming for Peter Capaldi’s debut Doctor Who season is moving to Lanzarote as the legendary TimeLord returns to the scene of a previous adventure.
The show last filmed on the Spanish island for 1984’s Planet of Fire which starred Peter Davison’s Fifth Doctor and introduced companion Peri (Nichola Bryant).
In a statement the BBC announced that Capaldi would be joined for the adventure by former Spooks actress Hermione Norris.
The actress, most recently seen in The Crimson Field, said, “It’s exciting to be part of such an iconic show, and one that my kids can watch!”
Steven Moffat, the show’s lead writer and Executive Producer, said, “It’s a testament to the quality of Peter Harness’s intense and emotional script, that we’ve been able to attract an actress of the brilliance of Hermione Norris.”
Speaking about the return to Lanzarote, Moffat said: “The Doctor is returning to the scene of an old adventure – but there have been sinister changes since his last visit.”
The episode also stars Ellis George, Phil Nice and Tony Osoba who previously appeared in the series in the 1987 Sylvester McCoy story, Dragonfire.
Other guest stars appearing in the new series include Ben Miller, Tom Riley and Keeley Hawes.
