Booker Prize announces iPad app & T-Mobile tie-up

August 27, 2010 - Staff@seenituk

A new iPhone and iPad app has been released for the Man Booker Prize, one of the book world’s most high profile awards.

The app boasts a full history of the prize, including information about the judges and the longlist, shortlist and winning authors and books, plus extracts from selected prize titles and exclusive author interviews, and has been released ahead of the announcement of this year’s shortlist on September 7th.

Ion Trewin, Literary Director of the Man Booker Prizes, commented, “The Man Booker has always been innovative in its marketing. The Man Booker Prize App is an exciting way of getting to an additional band of potential readers of this year’s longlist and shortlist.”

“We’re very proud of work with such a well established and prestigious literary prize,” said Richard Davies, Owner of Vexed Digital which developed the app. “In the last few years, we’ve seen an explosion of interest in digital technology from the publishing industry. The Man Booker Prize is the latest literary client we’ve worked with to bring its ideas to life in a creative and cutting edge way.”

In to the app, prize organisers have announced a tie-up with T-Mobile the digital book retailer GoSpoken to provide content on the mobile phone provider’s home page, “T-Zones”, plus competitions and prizes for users who buy a copy of a longlisted or shortlisted title or the winning book.
