Today’s Independent carries an interview with Russell T Davies in which – as well as Doctor Who – he discusses the state of television drama, his Channel 4 drama Queer as Folk and last year’s Mine All Mine.
According to the article Russell says “the budget for each episode is ‘a significant third’ less than the 1.2m that has been reported” in the media. He also talks about a new project “dubbed MGM (More Gay Men)” which he hopes will air on BBC One and which is to be made by QAF producers Red Productions.
The Mirror has two Who related features. The first is an interview with Billie Piper focussing on how filming commitments impact on her private life and the paper repeats their claims that Billie will leave the show during the third series (note Billie is not quoted as confirming this within the article).
The paper also reports the “exclusive” news that Russell T Davies has “banned” old Doctors from returning to the show. True to form the paper has managed to find an “outraged” fan to pad out the article.
The Sun also reports on the Billie’s relationship with her boyfriend and former husband Chris Evans.
And finally, the BBC Entertainment News website has an article about the second episode of the series as well as a large image of Rose and the Doctor fleeing the werewolf.
