Doctor Who’s chilling “Are You My Mummy?” scene was last night voted the 2005 TV Moment of the Year in the Viewer’s Poll. Earlier in the evening the show won the June/July nomination.
In attendance were Billie Piper, producer Phil Collinson and The Deadly Child/The Doctor Dances writer Steven Moffatt.
Elsewhere John Barrowman appeared with Natasha Kaplinsky on the BBC’s New Years Eve show. During a brief interview John said he expected to start filming Torchwood “in April”.
The Guardian’s Tom Robbins tells how he spied David Tennant whilst on a night out with Charlotte Church.
Tom Jicha’s TV Question and Answers column quotes a BBC America spokeswoman as saying that “are on the radar screens of BBC America” but that no deal has been struck with BBC Worldwide for the purchase of the series and that the process for the channel bidding “has not yet begun”.
Finally ITV have reportedly decided to combat the success of Doctor Who with a revival of 80’s gameshow Bullseye.
Following inclusion in their recent ‘Gameshow Marathon’ the quiz is to be hosted by Georgie Duo Ant and Dec.
Missing from most media reports, who claim the presenters are ITV’s “biggest weapon”, is the little fact that Doctor Who beat the duo every week during the first series and trounced a gameshow scheduled against it on Christmas Day.
