Next on BBC One: Tooth and Claw

April 20, 2006 - Staff@seenituk

The second series of Doctor Who continues with episode two, Tooth and Claw:

The Doctor and Rose meet the werewolf

Finding themselves in Scotland in 1879, The Doctor (David Tennant) and Rose (Billie Piper) are thrilled to encounter Queen Victoria (Pauline Colins) on her way to the Torchwood Estate.

However, upon arrival it soon becomes clear that all is not as it seems as a mysterious group of monks have taken over the household and are guarding a curious creature in a cage in the cellar, a creature who is in need of a very treasured possession of Queen Victoria herself.

Discussing her role with the BBC press office Pauline said “It’s wonderfully written and that’s what drew me to it”

“Queen Victoria is a great character and one of the things that Russell [T Davies] has done is to give her a little bit more humour and humanity than perhaps she’s known for.

Queen Victoria (Pauline Colins)

Certainly in Mrs Brown, with Judi Dench, you saw the humane side of Queen Victoria, but I think this is great.

And she’s also a person of great authority which she manages with humour as well.”

Tooth and Claw airs Saturday 22nd April at 7.15pm on BBC One
