Former Strictly Come Dancing Judge Arlene Phillips, dropped by BBC bosses amid accusations of ageism, is to write an exclusive weekly column on the show’s new run for The Sun.

Phillips will give her views on the progress of the contestants and promises to give readers all the behind-the-scenes gossip, tears and tantrums.

The first ‘Strictly’ column will appear this Friday (18 September), and then every Monday for the duration of the show.

The Sun’s TV Editor Colin Robertson said: “Arlene is a class act and it’s a travesty our readers can’t see her on the TV during this series of ‘Strictly’.”

“All is not lost though – we’re delighted she’s agreed to write for us and can’t wait to hear her views on what she thinks of this year’s action.”

Promising readers that Phillips will continue to pull no punches Robertson commented: “If you thought she didn’t hold back on the show, just wait till you read her column.”
