Russell Brand examines the incredible life and influence of one of America’s most outspoken comedians, the late Richard Pryor, in a one-off show for BBC Radio 2.
Richard Pryor Was It Something I Said? hears from those who knew him best, including fellow comedians who performed alongside him, such as Bill Cosby and Pryor’s writing partner, Paul Mooney.
Pryor’s extraordinary early life is also uncovered, as the programme visits his hometown of Peoria, Illinois, to examine the influence of his childhood on his work, career and self-destructive tendencies.
Featuring archive footage of Pryor’s hilarious and boundary-pushing comedy alongside new interviews with those who knew him, Brand pays tribute to this hero of comedy on the second anniversary of his passing away.
