Rise of the Planet of the Apes – trailer

Reportedly intended as a reboot of the iconic 60’s and 70’s ‘Planet of the Apes’ series, Rise of the Planet of the Apes is described as “a reality-based cautionary tale that blends science fiction and science fact” which shows how mankind’s hubris leads to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.

Set for release later this year, the film stars James Franco, Andy Serkis, Freida Pinto, Brian Cox, Tom Felton and John Lithgow and is directed by Rupert Wyatt.

Oscar-winning visual effects studio WETA Digital will be rendering photo-realistic apes – the first time any of the films have used effects rather than costumed actors for the titular beasts.
