Tesco & Marvel team up to release free Iron Man 3 app

April 21, 2013 - Staff@seenituk

iron_man_3_appTo coincide with this week’s release of Marvel’s Iron Man 3, Tesco has released an official Stark Armoury App for iPhone and Android smartphones.

Once they’ve downloaded the app, users gain access to Iron Man’s Mark II suit, with which they can take a photograph of themselves, frame it in their suit and share via social media.

Then, while visiting their local Tesco store, they can scan selected Stark Armoury labelled displays with their device, unlocking new and exciting features for the App.

The bonus content includes six different suits, multiple weapons and a feature that allows the user to see a fully 3D Iron Man on-screen who they can pose next to for a unique photo with their favourite Avenger.

The retailer described the app as part of its “unparalleled commitment” to the film which will include extensive retail displays in 400 stores.

Matt Entwistle, Tesco General Merchandise Marketing Director, Tesco said: “The Stark Armoury App is a brand new way for our customers to join in the excitement about the movie, and will add an extra bit of fun to the family shopping trip – on-line and in-store. We’re delighted to be working with Disney in bringing this unique Marvel App to Iron Man fans.”

Nigel Cook, Vice President, Marvel International added: “The Stark Armoury is a fantastic and engaging piece of Marvel content, and forms part of an extensive retail opportunity with Tesco that will run from now through to the DVD release and Christmas.

“Iron Man 3 is a key driver this year for the overall Avengers franchise, and the full product range will continue to be supported with TV programming on Disney XD and ITV ahead of the cinema release in November of Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World.”
