Two iPad homes on the rise

December 21, 2010 - Staff@seenituk

The number of homes with more than one iPad is set to increase
Less than a year after Apple’s iPad went on sale the numbers of homes with two tablet devices is on the rise, according to new research from YouGov.

The firm’s UK TabletTrack study reveals that almost a fifth (17%) of iPad owners say they or another household member own a second tablet.

The main reason given for owning more than one tabelt is other family members using the tablet. More than a third (37%) of iPad owners saying that their partners use their device and 14% of users say they purchased another tablet because their child was using it.

And there’s potential good news for device manufacturers as the number of households with more than one tablet looks set to increase – a fifth of all tablet owners (19%) say they are considering purchasing another tablet in the future.

However those brands which have yet to launch their iPad rivals should refrain from getting too excited – 71% of Apple iPad owners surveyed will get another iPad suggesting brand loyalty will be strong among early adopters.

However, the lure of new tablets being released in the future may also drive an increase in the number of households with more than 2 tablets, 18% of Apple iPad owners stating that they will purchase other tablets that become available in the future.
