The BBC today announced that a new, simulcast high definition (HD) version of BBC One will launch on Freesat, Freeview, Sky and Virgin Media later this year. The existing BBC HD channel will continue to broadcast a selection of content from other BBC channels and will have its hours extended to 12 hours a day.
