BBC Two to revive Robot Wars

January 13, 2016 - Staff@seenituk

Robot_WarsBBC Two is bringing back Robot Wars, the tech battling series which first aired on the channel in February 1998 with Jeremy Clarkson doing the hosting duties.

The show later moved to BBC Choice before defecting to Channel 5 in 2003.

A new six-part series is to be filmed at new purpose-built fighting arena in Glasgow with producers Mentorn Scotland promising fans will be “to get even closer to the action, with state-of-the-art cameras capable of capturing every crushing, sawing and scorching moment in incredible detail.”

Mentorn and the BBC say the new series will include “a raft of technological advances” and that viewers can expect to see “more innovative fighting machines as teams of amateur roboteers battle it out to win the coveted Robot Wars title.”

Kim Shillinglaw, Controller of BBC Two and BBC Four, says: “Robot Wars is an absolute TV classic and I’m thrilled to be updating it for the next generation of viewers.

“With new technological advances making for an even more exciting and immersive experience, this is a fantastic example of the kind of content-rich factual entertainment that BBC Two excels at.”
