Sky is to premiere Fortitude, its latest in-house crime drama, simultaneously to 20 million subscribers in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Italy
The show stars Stanley Tucci, Sofie Gråbøl, Christopher Ecclestone and Michael Gambon and is set in the savage Arctic landscape, known as one of the safest towns on earth.
When the community suffers its first-ever murder, the unsettling horror of this crime threatens the future of the town itself as the locals struggle to make sense of the murderous horror that has been let loose…
Fortitude is the first Sky original programme to air simultaneously in the broadcaster’s five markets since the former BSkyB bought its German and Italian counterparts last year.
In addition to airing on Sky’s platforms, the show has also been sold to broadcasters around the world, including Canal + in France and NRK in Norway.
Stuart Murphy, Sky’s Director of Entertainment, said: “Fortitude is truly cinematic drama with a scale that sets it apart. The cast and editorial ambition show what we can do when we give world class talent the space to create game changing drama.
“Launching simultaneously to 20 million customers demonstrates Sky’s increased reach across Europe, while record sales around the world mean an even bigger impact and greater returns. “
