Sky has announced the sale of its upcoming original dams series Fortitude to nine international broadcasters including Canal + in France and NRK in Norway.
Starring Stanley Tucci, Sofie Gråbøl, Christopher Ecclestone and Michael Gambon, Fortitude is set in the savage Arctic landscape, known as one of the safest towns on earth.
There has never been a violent crime there. Until now. In such a close-knit community a murder touches everyone and the unsettling horror of this crime threatens the future of the town itself.
As the cold Arctic darkness gives way to endless summer nights, this apparently idyllic community struggles to make sense of the murderous horror that has been let loose in its heart.
The series has been co-produced with Pivot TV and will air in the UK on Sky Atlantic in early 2015.
The overseas sales have brokered by Sky Vision, BSkyB’s international distribution arm which has also struck a number of deals for the home entertainment rights.
Jane Millichip, Managing Director of Sky Vision, comments: “We are thrilled by the response this series has already achieved worldwide. What sets this show apart is its ambition and scale.
“Driven by Sky Atlantic to deliver the best talent, writers and producers in this area, Fortitude delivers global themes with an international cast across a full twelve episodes. It’s gripping television and Fifty Fathoms has delivered a series that we know international drama buyers love.”
