SyFy to screen world’s first Virtual Reality drama series

August 24, 2016 - Staff@seenituk

Halcyon_KeyArt_1200The SyFy channel is to screen a “hybrid” drama series of which some episodes will only be available though virtual reality platforms, Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR.

A 15-episode police procedural, Halcyon centres on Blake Creighton (Michael Therriault) the CEO of the world’s leading Virtual Reality company.

Having cornered the market on VR, Halcyon has discarded the VR headset and allowed users to access the virtual space using neurological implants that manipulate the senses to create a virtual world.

When Creighton is found dead, presumed murdered, Detective Jules Dover (Lisa Marcos) and her partner, Asha (Harveen Sandhu), must consider if this could be the world’s first virtual crime

Ten of the episodes will air on Syfy’s linear channels and their accompanying websites, with the remaining five exclusively available on VR platforms.

For viewers who only watch the traditional linear episodes, short recaps of the VR episodes will be included to ensure all fans are able to follow the complete storyline.

Created and produced by Secret Location, the series is Directed by BAFTA-nominated Benjamin Arfmann (Random Stop).

Halcyon launches online on 22nd September. A special broadcast of episode 1 will also air at 8:55pm on 26th September on Syfy.
