Amazon launches Kindle Fire HD 8.9” in UK & Europe

March 14, 2013 - Staff@seenituk

kindle_fire_9Online retailer Amazon is now offering its Kindle Fire HD 8.9” Android tablet in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Japan.

UK prices start from £229 and the device can be ordered from Amazon.co.uk.

The device, a larger version of the Kindle Fire HD which is already on sale, offers a 8.9” display with 1920×1200 screen resolution, Dolby audio and dual stereo speakers, access to Amazon’s app store and the retailer’s digital content including films, books and MP3s.

“We’re thrilled with customer reaction to Kindle Fire HD 8.9”. Customers tell us they love our large-screen version of Kindle Fire HD for web browsing, email, gaming, watching TV shows, reading magazines, and more,” said Dave Limp, Vice President, Amazon Kindle.

The company says the international roll-out of the Kindle Fire HD 8.9” will create “cost efficiencies” which it will pass on to US customers by reducing the current selling price to $269.

“As we expand Kindle Fire HD 8.9” to Europe and Japan, we’ve been able to increase our production volumes and decrease our costs. Across our business at Amazon, whenever we are able to create cost efficiencies like this, we want to pass the savings along to our customers,” aded Limp.
