BT has confirmed that Delia Bushell, Managing Director of BT Sport & BT TV, is stepping down after a “successful” three year tenure in which the firm has added a raft of top sporting rights to its lineup and enjoyed strong growth in subscriber numbers.
Bushell’s time in post also saw BT grab exclusive rights to the AMC drama and film channel and oversee the launch of the UK’s first 4k UHD channel.
News of her departure was first reported by the Telegraph newspaper over the weekend and was officially confirmed in a statement on Monday morning.
The ISP and broadcaster says Bushell will stay on until the start of June “to oversee a handover of her responsibilities” and that a “succession plan” for BT TV and BT Sport will be announced “in due course”.
Delia Bushell said: “This was a difficult decision as I am incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved over the past few years.
“But with the successful renewal of our UEFA Champions and Europa League rights and the launch of our new, improved BT TV YouView service, I can now confidently hand over the baton to the excellent team around me.
“I look forward to watching BT Sport and TV continue to lead the market on innovation, creativity & commercial ingenuity.”
John Petter, CEO of BT Consumer, said “Delia leaves with our very best wishes for the future, having made a major contribution to the development of both BT TV and BT Sport.
“She leaves behind a strong team that she developed during her time here.”
