ITV2 has signed up the exclusive first broadcast rights to Scorpion, a new US “high-octane drama” which debuted on CBS this week.
Starring Elyes Gabel, Robert Patrick and Katharine McPhee, the show is inspired by the true story of eccentric genius Walter O’Brien and his team of brilliant misfits, who comprise the last line of defence against complex, high-tech threats of the modern age.
The show’s executive producers include Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, writers of the new Star Trek films.
“We are thrilled to be working with ITV to bring Scorpion unique and action packed storylines to British audiences,” said Stephen Tague, Senior Vice President, Europe for CBS Studios International. “Scorpion will undoubtedly add sizzle to ITV2’s schedule this autumn.”
Angela Jain, ITV’s Director of Digital Channels and Acquisitions said, ““ITV2 is delighted to be showing Scorpion.
“We think this fun, action-packed drama about a group of misfit masterminds is a perfect fit for our young audience. Its incredibly strong premiere on CBS in the States is just the start we had hoped for.”
The show will launch on ITV2 later this autumn.
