BBC to launch SVOD service with Singapore’s StarHub TV

BBC_Worldwide_LogoBBC Worldwide, the broadcaster’s commercial arm, is launching a subscription on-demand service with customers of Singapore’s StarHub TV the first to get it.

Named BBC Player, the service will feature a mix curated content from six BBC global brands – BBC Earth, BBC First, BBC Lifestyle, CBeebies and BBC World News – as well as BBC Brit, a new brand that will be available for the first time in Asia.

Shows available include will include Hoff the Record, David Hasselhoff’s semi-scripted mockumentary comedy series which aired in the UK on UKTV’s Dave, the new Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc version of Top Gear and dramas such as  Orphan Black and Sherlock.

“I’m delighted that audiences in Singapore, one of the most connected countries in the world with the highest smartphone penetration, will be the first to experience this quality for themselves with the inaugural launch of BBC Player.”

BBC Player will be available online and via Android and iOS apps.
