Julie Walters’ 40 year career is to be celebrated with a special one-off BBC two programme.

Entitled Julie Walters: In Their Words, the programme will recount the star’s career which includes roles in TV comedy classics such as Wood & Walters and Dinnerladies plus award-winning films like Educating Rita and Billy Elliot.

As well Walters herself, the show will include contributions from friends and colleagues who’ve appeared alongside her.

The programme was commissioned by Kim Shillinglaw, Controller of BBC Two, and Suzanne McManus, Commissioning Editor for BBC Entertainment.

Suzanne McManus, Commissioning Editor for BBC Entertainment, says: “Julie has been an acting hero of mine since I first saw her light up the screen in ‘Educating Rita’.

“I’ve been known to hijack her at events and tell her, more than once! She’s so loved by her fellow actors, so I’m looking forward to hearing their inside stories and having Julie back on our screens.”
