BT releases new apps for Samsung Smart TVs, Apple TV and Google Chromecast

July 9, 2018 - Martin Hoscik@seenituk

BT is making it easier for its TV customers to watch subscription channels and content around the home by releasing apps for Samsung Smart TV’s, Google Chromecast and Apple TV.

Support for Amazon’s Fire TV range is also promised to be “coming soon”.

The apps allow customers to access BT’s line-up of subscription channels, watch catch-up content and buy and rent TV boxsets and movies through devices they already own, avoiding the need to buy an extra set top box from BT.

Access via the app costs £5 per month on top of the customer’s TV subscription.

The company has also recently updated its Android and iOS apps, allowing customers to watch purchased and rented content alongside their subscription and catch-up content on their mobile devices.

Pete Oliver, Managing Director of BT Marketing and Sales said: “We’re giving customers unrivalled choice and flexibility in how they experience and watch their favourite content.

“Our new TV app brings BT’s fantastic entertainment and sport to multiple screens enabling customers to watch in more places than ever before”.
