Danny Elfman’s Music from the Films of Tim Burton gets 3-day tour

July 31, 2013 - Staff@seenituk

elfman_tourA live celebration of Danny Elfman’s Music from the Films of Tim Burton is to tour following after a sell-out performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Tickets for the October 7th London performance were snapped up fast by film and music lovers.

Now Apollo Digital, by arrangement with the Royal Albert Hall, is taking the even to Leeds, Glasgow and Birmingham on 8, 9 and 10 October respectively.

This brand new orchestra event features Elfman’s famous film scores brought to life on stage by the BBC Concert Orchestra under the baton of John Mauceri, and enhanced by visuals on the big screen of Tim Burton’s original film sketches, drawings and story boards.

Celebrating the nearly three decade-long partnership of two of Hollywood’s top creators, this event features films from a fascinating back catalogue of classics such as Beetlejuice, Batman & Batman Returns, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Alice in Wonderland.

Danny Elfman’s Music from the Films of Tim Burton explores the collaborative relationship between music and storytelling and the process and importance that it has in filmmaking.

The event will feature a special guest performance by four-time Oscar-nominee Danny Elfman, who, as well as playing various instruments, will be making his first public singing performance in 18 years.

“I really look forward to revisiting this body of work, which has been such a huge part of my life, and bringing it to the concert stage. And the idea of performing some of Jack Skellington’s songs from The Nightmare Before Christmas live for the very first time is immensely exciting,” says Elfman.

“I’ve always heard Danny’s scores performed live during our recording sessions for the films we’ve collaborated on,” added Tim Burton. “For others to finally be able to hear his music live is really something special.”
