Doctor Who fans are being invited to help curate a special limited edition collection of images which will then go on sale from Classic Stills, a Los Angeles and London-based publisher of rare and iconic photographs.
Working with BBC Studios Americas, the firm is offering the collection to mark the 55th anniversary of Doctor Who’s initial broadcast.
Fans can suggest which classic Doctor Who scene or moment they would most like to hang on their wall. One entry will be chosen to feature in the collection, with the lucky fan also receiving a copy of their chosen print.
The winning entry will be announced on Doctor Who Day, November 23, 2018 the anniversary of the show’s first episode.
“We’re delighted to invite Doctor Who fans to help us curate the first official collection of fine art prints in the show’s history,” said Classic Stills CEO Rene Freling.
“The collection will open up the BBC’s photo archives in a new and unique way, and will feature images dating back to the very first Doctor.”
Alongside the competition, Classic Stills will also release 100 numbered copies of a photograph taken on the set of the show featuring the tenth Doctor, David Tennant. The 16”x20” framed prints will be available for purchase on October 25 for $295/£249.
“We’re really excited to offer Doctor Who fans a taste of what’s to come – and 100 lucky fans the chance to own the first Doctor Who fine art stills ever to go on sale,” said Freling.
The main Doctor Who collection, launching in December, will feature more rare and iconic photography from the show, including on-set, behind-the-scenes and publicity stills.
Doctor Who fine art prints will be available for purchase in the US, Canada, UK and Ireland. For more information on Classic Stills and the Doctor Who collection, please visit https://classicstills.com/ and https://classicstills.co.uk/.
