Freesat announces new ‘TellyFest’ ad campaign

Freesat has launched a new advertising campaign set around ‘TellyFest’ – a fictional fan convention similar to Comic-Con.

The 30 second ad portrays a crowd of super-fans dressed up as classic and iconic TV characters and genres, representing programmes from the BBC, ITV and other broadcasters – both free to air and SVOD.

The new TV advert will premiere across the UK (excluding London and South East regions) on Monday 5 November during the Coronation Street ad break.

Shot in a fly on the wall style, the advert is a celebration of television’s power to unite people through a love of Unbelievably Good TV. The ad shows the super-fans coming together as they enter a world inspired by the great entertainment available via Freesat, which can all be enjoyed subscription free.

Alistair Thom, Managing Director at Freesat said: “TellyFest is the next iteration of our Unbelievably Good TV strategy.

“Where previous campaigns have highlighted the feelings of freedom and control that our customers get by switching to Freesat, this year’s ad celebrates the reason they love it – a shared passion for great TV.”

Speaking about the ad, Steve Verna, Head of Marketing, said “In the UK we have access to the best TV in the world, and TV events like the Royal Wedding, World Cup and the popular series like The Crown illustrate television’s unique ability to bring people together, and embed themselves in everyday conversations.

“Inspired by this, we worked with Mr President to create TellyFest, a world where TV fans come together to celebrate the characters, programmes and genres they love – all of which can be enjoyed through Freesat.”
