The new Prime Suspect prequel, which takes viewers back to the early career of Lynda La Plante’s Jane Tennison, will debut on ITV on Thursday 2nd March, the broadcaster announced today.
The original series debuted in 1991 and starred Helen Mirren as a no-nonsense detective who has to survive the male-dominated world of the Metropolitan Police.
Prime Suspect 1973 has been adapted from La Plante’s bestselling novel Tennison and stars Stefanie Martini as the young Jane Tennison who finds herself working on her first murder case.
The six-part series also stars Sam Reid as Tennison’s boss, DI Bradfield.
