Idris Elba’s John Luther returns to BBC One next week with a special two-part story which finds him laying low in a rundown cottage on the edge of England.
John’s life is upended by a visit from his Met colleagues who bring with them a shocking piece of news which draws him back to London in search of the truth.
And when Schenk (Dermot Crowley) and his team find themselves racing to work out the twisted logic that connects each victim of a gruesome new serial killer, it’s not long before Luther is back in the Bullpen and determined to steal a march on the killer before it’s too late.
The special has been written by series creator Neil Cross and directed by Sam Miller.
Speaking earlier this year Elba said: “It’s great we’ve been able to do this Luther special. John is so close to my heart, he’s part of me. The fans won’t be disappointed with his return – it’s explosive and definitely goes up a gear!”
During his break from his most famous role, the actor has partnered with fashion brand Superdry to develop and promote a new range of men’s clothing including T-shirts and jackets.
