Israeli drama Hostages and its US remake are both to air on British TV after BBC Four and Channel Four each snapped up the rights to one of the versions.
In both versions a surgeon is asked by hostage takers to kill the President as she operates on him, otherwise her family will be killed.
BBC Four has acquired the original Israeli version, created by Rotem Shamir and Omri Givon, from Armoza Formats.
CEO Avi Armoza said the firm were “proud to represent the first-ever Israeli series to air on the BBC, and believe that the BBC is the perfect home for this highly acclaimed drama.”
The US remake, which stars James Naughton as the President and Toni Collette as Dr. Ellen Sanders, will be shown on Channel Four and is Executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.
Both versions will air in early 2014.
