BAFTA has announced the names of this year’s EE Rising Star Award nominees.
The contenders for 2014 are: Dane DeHaan, George MacKay, Lupita Nyong’o, Will Poulter and Léa Seydoux.
Nominees were selected by a group of jurors including actress Gemma Arterton, Deputy Chair of BAFTA’s Film Committee Pippa Harris and celebrated film critic Mark Kermode.
The winner will be announced at the EE British Academy Film Awards ceremony on Sunday 16 February 2014.
The annual award is the only BAFTA to be awarded via a public vote.
It was created in honour of highly respected BAFTA-winning casting director Mary Selway, whose career spanned three decades and over ninety films before she died in 2004.
Selway worked with notable directors such as Steven Spielberg, Roman Polanski, Clint Eastwood and Ridley Scott, contributing to the creation of some of the silver screen’s most memorable characters.
Previous winners include Tom Hardy, Kristen Stewart, Noel Clarke, Eva Green and James McAvoy.
