BT Sport says it’s to make this weekend’s Aviva Premiership Rugby coverage, including Saracens trip to Wembley to take on Harlequins, “available for anyone to watch”.
The broadcaster will de-encrypt its channels on Sky and Virgin Media from 5.30pm on Friday until Sunday evening, allowing viewers free access to top rugby clashes.
In addition to Saracens v Harlequins, the channel will screen Worcester Warriors v London Wasps at Sixways, Bath Rugby’s trip to London Irish and Leicester Tigers v Exeter Chiefs.
BT Broadband customers already get free access to the channels via BT.com, the BT Sport app and, for customers with BT Infinity, their BT TV set top box. Sky TV customers with BT Broadband can add the channels to their box for no extra charge.
Customers who receive the channels via BT TV or via Sky’s platform can add the HD versions of the channels for just £3 a month.
Customers without BT Broadband can receive the channels through the Sky Digital Satellite platform for £15 per month in high definition or £12 in standard definition by contacting BT.
Virgin Media offers its XL TV customers free access to BT Sport and also retails the channels as a standalone premium service to customers on lower packs.
