BT Sports app to be included in SME broadband packages for the first time

The BT Sports app for mobiles and tablets is to be included in business broadband packages for the first time, a move the ISP and broadcaster says acknowledges the blurring lines “between work and personal hours”.

BT’s residential customers already have access to the app which offers live coverage of the UEFA Champions League, Premier League games, Aviva Rugby Premiership and Australian cricket.

Today’s announcement means SME customers will also be able to watch all four BT Sport channels plus Boxnation via their BT Business Hub within the office or via a BT Wi-Fi hot spot to avoid using their mobile data allowance.

However, while the app is being offered to SMEs for “personal use,” business will not be allowed to use it for commercial purposes or for business broadcasting.

Mike Tomlinson, MD Small and Medium Enterprises at BT, said: “Our business broadband customers can now experience the best of BT’s live sporting action on two mobile devices while in the office, at home and on the move around the UK, thanks to our extensive fixed and mobile networks.

“In today’s world many of us blur the lines between work and personal hours so it’s great to be able to offer BT Sport for those moments of personal downtime either at home or in the office.”

The offer is available for all new SME customers of Broadband Premium, Infinity Unlimited and Infinity Premium, those who upgrade to fibre, and for customers who renew their contract.
