The show ran for five series between 1998 and 2003 and also starred Helen Baxendale whose character Rachel died during the final series.
ITV announced plans to revive the show last November.
Filmed on location in Manchester the new eight-part series has been produced by Big Talk and is executive produced by series creator and writer, Mike Bullen and CEO of Big Talk Productions, Kenton Allen.
Bullen said: “This feels like the right time to revisit these characters, as they tip-toe through the minefield of middle age!”
