Doctor Who (plus Torchwood and Sarah Jane) production designer Ed Thomas has given a short interview to TV industry magazine Broadcast.
Broadcast reporter Robert Gray has been looking at the challenges production teams across television face as “pressures on budgets are being felt across a range of craft professions, from editing and grading to stunts and costume design”.
Thomas discusses the issue of High Definition filming in relation to Doctor Who telling Gray “Doctor Who is shot on tape and we use the lack of clarity sometimes to our advantage…but as more programmes go to HD, budgets will have to reflect that because you have to spend more time on construction and paint finishing and props.”
