The history-themed show has won a Best Scripted Comedy gong at the Royal Television Society Awards, the Best New Comedy accolade at the British Comedy Awards and been nominated at the BAFTAs.
Over a million viewers regularly tuned in across the first two series, making it the highest-rated British comedy on a digital channel.
ITV says casting and storylines will be confirmed nearer transmission in Spring 2018.
