Recently, it has been estimated that the market for video games reached up to the highest level of £5.11 bn in the last year, 2017. Well, it means that people of the United Kingdom have shown the incredible extent of interest in such high-tech digital mode of amusement, with many using voucher sites such as Dealslands, to secure themselves a bargain along the way.

On 2nd March 2018, the specific breakdown of figures for the sales of software, hardware, merchandises, and peripherals was announced by the trade body of UKIE.

The total revenue has rose by 12.4% when compared to 2016, with the highest growth happened in terms of PC games hardware. The percentage went up by 51% with a gradual rise from £ 249 million to £ 376 million year by year.

The experts are addressing that such an amazing change in the game is all because of the growth of virtual reality and its amazing graphics features. An unbelievable amount of £ 100 billion has been spent only on VR headsets! It is the first time in the history of VR technologies.

Also, the high extent of urge among the people for 4K monitors and games is equally responsible for such a breaking news.

Next, the second most striking area where a massive growth has been seen is nothing but the console hardware. It’s because of the launch of Nintendo switch and existing success of PlayStation 4 both, people have been spending on consoles up t such an incredible level. To be specific, Dorian Bloch, the senior client insight director of GFK, reported that this is for the fourth time PS4 has been sold in such an enormous amount in the UK.

The economists have seen a plunge of 29.9% with a growth in the revenue from £ 507 million to £ 659 million.

Besides, software is being definitely one of the biggest money-booster.  For the download and online PC games, the spend was no less than £ 1.6 billion. The figure is not only intriguing because it is a 13.4% rise than £1.4 billion which was the last year’s number but also 2017 was the first year in the history of the UK when digital games had been worth more than the limit of £ 1.5 billion.

Moreover, according to Carter Rogers and the SuperData Research, premium PC based games and consoles lead to a 42% rise in revenue from digital games in the UK. However, such a figure stands to as low as 34% in Europe and just 14% in the rest of the world. So, the UK has definitely grown in terms of being technologically sound like never before.

Also, 2017 has been the first year when UKIE included the revenues of UK box office along with the home sales for movie DVDs. Well, like the technologies and games, the scenario has been not a very exciting one in terms of movies. In fact, 2016 was far better!

Last but not the least, the aforementioned data has been obtained while doing a thorough research of GFK, NPD, Kantar Worldpanel, Nielsen, Superdata, ABC, the official charts company and lastly the British Film Institute. So, you can obviously trust on the same and rejoice about such a marvellous change in the technology market of the UK.
