IMAX and Lucasfilm have confirmed that Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the next chapter in the franchise’s all-new trilogy, includes key sequences captured on IMAX’s high-resolution cameras.
The film, directed by Rian Johnson, will be released this December and continues the story after 2015’s The Force Awakens.
News that Johnson used IMAX cameras for key sequences of the film comes as part of an extended deal announced by IMAX and Lucasfilm’s parent company Walt Disney.
Building on their existing long-standing relationship, the two companies announced today that they’ve signed a new multi-picture deal which includes the much-anticipated live-action and animated tentpole releases from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm.
