ITV confirms 3 new DCI Banks stories

Following last year’s successful pilot, ITV1’s crime thriller DCI Banks is to return for a six-part run of 3 stories, each told over two episodes.

The stories have been adapted from Peter Robinson’s novels Playing with Fire, Friend of the Devil and Cold as the Grave and star Stephen Tompkinson and Andrea Lowe and Banks and DS Annie Cabbott.

The pair will be joined for the new episodes by former Shameless actor Jack Deam, Colin Tierney and Tudors star Tamzin Merchant.

“DCI Banks launched really strongly and already feels like a great new addition to our roster of crime dramas. We’re looking forward to bringing a full series to ITV1 later this year” said Sally Haynes, ITV Controller of Drama Commissioning.

Banks creator Robinson said he was “thrilled” with the decision to commission more stories which he said he hoped “will give everyone a chance to build on the success they have already had and make DCI Banks a staple of prime time ITV series for years to come.”
