ITV Studios sells Snowpiercer series to China’s Huanxi Media

ITV Studios’ Snowpiercer, a TV adaption of the movie of the same name, is heading to China in a deal with Huanxi Media.

Starring Oscar winner Jennifer Connelly and Tony Award winner Daveed Diggs, the series is set seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland and centres on the remnants of humanity, who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually-moving train that circles the globe.

Class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival are questioned in this riveting television adaptation.

Outside the US and China the series has already been sold to Netflix.

The deal follows the recent announcement that Huanxi Media has also secured the mainland China rights to award-winning thriller Bodyguard.

Both shows will be available via its streaming service platform, huanxi.com, which provides viewers with both films and scripted television drama produced domestically and from abroad.

Ruth Berry, Managing Director, ITV Studios Global Entertainment, said: “Snowpiercer is another hugely exciting drama on our global slate and we are delighted that, in joining Bodyguard on Huanxi.com, viewers in China will be able to enjoy the twists and turns of two of our biggest shows.”
