Kobo’s new Aura HD ereader has won the Lifestyle award at the 2014 German Design Awards which recognise quality design, innovation and functionally.
The 6.8” Kobo Aura HD is claimed to be the world’s highest-definition E Ink ereader and was launched at the London Book Fare in April.
The device boasts a custom front-lit e-ink screen which delivers 265 dpi and a 1440 x 1080 resolution which the company says offers the closest paper-like experience of any device on the market.
It also offers 4GB of internal storage, built-in WiFi for instant access to Kobo’s ebook store and 10 fonts with 24 sizes.
“At Kobo we are passionate about creating the best reading experience possible.” said Pamela Hilborn, Vice President of Product and Design, Kobo.
“With the Kobo Aura HD, we took our inspiration from the organic beauty of folded paper — so it’s designed to be visually beautiful yet still be extremely comfortable to hold for long periods of time. We couldn’t be more proud to be recognized by the German Design Council with this award.”
