Kobo has added Blackberry 10 to the line-up of platforms it supports, launching a new version of its popular reading app on BlackBerry World for BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Q10 owners.
The app offers access to more than 3.5 million ebooks from Kobo’s store, plus the ability for users to sync their their library across Kobo readers and other devices they own.
“The Kobo app creates the ideal reading experience for BlackBerry smartphone customers who want to be able to consume books wherever they are and whenever they want,” said Wayne White, EVP of Devices, Kobo.
The two companies had previously worked together to bring Kobo’s app to earlier Blackberry devices and the firm’s ill-fated Playbook tablet.
Blackberry is hoping the latest version of its operating system will transform its fortunes after losing significant market share to rivals including Apple and Samsung.
Martyn Mallick, VP of Global Alliances and Business Development at BlackBerry. said the new Kobo app “further supports the BlackBerry 10 customer experience by connecting people to their content wherever they are and we are excited to work with Kobo to bring their eReading app to BlackBerry 10 customers.”
