The world of showbiz isn’t known for being especially conducive to a long lasting marriage, with many celebrity couples barely able to make it to their paper anniversary.

Happily, there are some exceptions with a surprisingly high number of A-listers not only sticking with their marriages for a year or two, but managing to clock up enough miles to give them some of the longest running marriages in showbiz.

Here are just some of the showbiz marriages that have stood the test of time and defied the odds.

1. Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach
Though Ringo Starr’s first marriage may not have lasted, his second to actress Barbara Bach has proved to be enduring with the couple clocking up a respectable 33 years of matrimony and still going strong.

2. Meryl Streep and Don Gummer
Meryl Streep was already a well-known face in Hollywood when she married renowned sculptor Don Gummer in 1978. Since then, they’ve raised four children at the same time as pursuing international careers and achieving acclaim in their respective industries.

3. Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell
Though Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell may not actually be married, they have been together since 1983 – withstanding all of the pressures that A-list life brings with it.

Together they have a son and have raised Goldie Hawn’s two children from a previous marriage – one of whom is actress Kate Hudson.

4. Dolly Parton and Carl Thomas Dean
Despite her image as often heartbroken and unlucky in love, country singer Dolly Parton actually has one of the most enduring marriages in showbiz. Her and husband Carl Thomas Dean tied the knot way back in 1966. Though they never had children, the couple helped to raise a number of Parton’s younger siblings over the years.

5. Christopher Walken and Georgianne Walken
Married in 1969, actor Christopher Walken and casting director Georgianne Walken are one of the best-known celebrity couples in Hollywood. They’ve never had children, which Christopher Walken credits as one of the reasons for his prolific film career. As they’re still going strong after 45 years, it looks like the Walkens will stay happily married well into their retirement living years.

6. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson
Actors Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson met on the set of Hanks’s TV show Bosom Buddies and married in 1988. Together they have two sons and put their success down to enjoying each other’s company and having fun together.

Though many celebrity marriages end in separation, there are some that stick it out, giving hope to the rest of us and proving that there really can be a happily ever after if you find the right person.
