New Walkman models announced

Sony have announced two new stylish but “entry-level” Walkman models including the new ultra-thin E Series.

Just 9.3mm thick, the E series (pictured right) is an MP3 and Video player boasting a 2-inch QVGA Colour LCD screen.

It also features Sony’s Clear Audio technology which is designed to reduce leakage between left and right channels and deliver powerful, controlled low-end frequencies without distortion.

There’s support for major music and video formats including rights-managed WMA and WMV and, in a Walkman first, there’s also support for video file format conversion via the supplied Content Transfer software.

And if all that’s not enough, there’s also a high quality FM radio tuner which can record broadcasts for later listening.

The USB pen-style B Series offers 18 hrs music playback time with a 3-minute charge capable of delivering up for 90 mins of listening – perfect for those last minute journeys.

Available in a choice of four colours, Sony say the devices are the “perfect match” for the b140newest  VAIO Type C and Cyber-shot S Series models.

For extra flexibility the B Series can connect via USB to micro/mini audio systems that support USB Mass Storage Management and Ripping/Up-Streaming, meaning you don’t even need a computer to load up with your favourite tunes.

Both ranges are expected to hit shops around the end of July.
