Windows smartphone owners can now access ebooks and audiobooks from their local library thanks to a new app from OverDrive, the company which powers digital services for many UK and international libraries.
The new Windows Phone app joins apps for Blackberry and Android handsets and Apple’s iPad and iPhone.

“With the launch of our new Windows Phone app, OverDrive now supports eBook and audiobook lending on every major mobile and desktop operating system,” said David Burleigh, director of marketing for OverDrive.
The free app is available free from Windows Phone Marketplace and allows device owners to find a local library, browse for titles and then download directly to Windows Phone devices.
Todd Brix, senior director, Windows Phone Marketplace said: “With its easy setup and intuitive customer experience, OverDrive is a perfect example of the high quality apps that Windows Phone users can expect to find on Marketplace,” he continued.
