Sainsbury’s is teaming up wit Vodafone to launch a new mobile phone network.
Branded as Mobile by Sainsbury’s, the virtual operator will be 50/50 joint venture led by a management team comprising of key personnel from both Sainsbury’s and Vodafone.
It will launch later this year with the aim of “combining Sainsbury’s brand, customer insight and retail distribution with Vodafone’s expertise” in running mobile services.
Handsets and tariffs will be available to Sainsbury’s customers both in store and online, with the firm’s promising to “reward customer loyalty,” and offer “great quality value-for-money mobile products” as well as allowing customers to earn Nectar points.
Justin King, Sainsbury’s CEO said: “We are delighted to announce this partnership. Together with Vodafone, we’ll be able to develop mobile products and services that represent great value for Sainsbury’s customers.”
Guy Laurence, Vodafone UK CEO added: “Both businesses will capitalise on their respective strengths in this venture to offer an exciting product range to customers.”
