A new range of features aimed at making it easier and more enjoyable to watch films have been added to Sky+HD boxes.
The headline feature is the ability to ‘Watch from Start’ which allows Sky Movies subscribers to watch films which have already begun right from the beginning by easily downloading the film with a single button press.
Watch from Start is already available on Sky Italia where it’s proven a big hit with customers.
Other new features include a movies recommendation service and the ability to create a personalised movies library.
Later this year Sky will also introduce Rotten Audience Scores as star ratings to help v more easily see what other viewers thought of any title in the Sky Movies library.
Luke Bradley-Jones, Director of TV Products said: “This is just the latest in a series of enhancements we’re rolling out every few months to make sure Sky+ continues to make TV watching a brilliant experience in homes up and down the country.
“The pace at which we’re developing for Sky+ has never been quicker – so customers can look forward to more updates later this year and into 2016.”
Sky CEO Jeremy Darroch recently said investment in on demand and box set services are the key to retaining customers in an increasingly competitive market. While still the UK’s biggest pay-TV service, Sky is facing stiff competition for content rights from BT as well as streaming service Netflix and, to a lesser extent, Amazon.
