The_Sims_4_Box_340With Christmas fast approaching the prospect of spending a few days of enforced confinement with the family may not be filling you with glee – especially the thought of Granddad dominating the TV remote and Aunt Joan struggling to control her gin intake.

And no matter how old you get, everyone still wants to treat you like that small kid with the embarrassing gap in their teeth or remind of that time you scratched next door’s car just days after passing your driving test.

Yup, Christmas is a time when even the biggest and hardiest of us get reduced to sitting in the corner while all of the control we’re used to exercising is shoved to one side and we’re once again forced to eat what we’re told and when we’re told while having to laugh at dreadful cracker ‘jokes’.

Luckily escape is possible without the effort of digging a tunnel and pacing round the back garden while dropping soil down your trouser leg!

Yes, surviving the ‘joys’ of a family Christmas is easy if you follow our simple two step guide:

  1. Buy a copy of The Sims 4 before leaving home
  2. Take your laptop and a decent pair of headphones with you

As the trailer – see below – says, and unlike the assembled relatives you’re sharing the festive season with, The Sims know YOU rule and are ready and willing to take instructions.

Want them to do something and compliance is only a click or two away – no arguing, squabbling or overruling!

The latest edition of the popular franchise got a recent Halloween-themed update which introduces new ghost Sims into the game.

Ghost Sims don’t just haunt, treat them right and they’ll willingly give a hand around the house, making sure it’s always tidy, while your Sims get one with less mundane tasks.

Ghosts are created when your Sim dies and their post-death behaviour is dependent on the manner of their death – for example, a Sim that’s been electrocuted will have the power to break objects by possessing them while one which dies from from Cow Plant will happily spend their eternity tending gardens.

And the ghosts can have a little fun of their own by dressing up in the recently introduced Star Wars costumes which also came in the recent update.

If you like a particular Ghost Sim, can revive them by cooking up a meal of Angelfish, Death Flower and the Potion of Youth.

Even ignoring its restorative and healing powers, we reckon that combination’s likely to be preferable mum’s soggy, over cooked sprouts and dry turkey!
