Mark Kermode is hosting an evening of classic Christmas film music performed live by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra as part of the Royal Albert Hall’s festive season.

The evening includes music from classic films like Meet Me in St Louis (1944), White Christmas (1954) and It’s a Wonderful Life (1946), alongside contemporary favourites, including Love Actually, Home Alone, A Nightmare before Christmas, E. T., Elf and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Traditional numbers will complete the programme, including ‘Sleigh Ride’ and ‘Winter Wonderland’.

Kermode will compère the concert, introducing performances from the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra conducted by Paul Bateman.

Lucy Noble, Artistic Director of the Royal Albert Hall, said: “Little can evoke Christmas like the sound of a festive film score, and we’re delighted to present these stirring, heart-warming and magical themes in a show of their own.

“We’re especially excited that the night will be hosted by Mark Kermode – one of the country’s leading authorities when it comes to movies.”
