Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is to get an IMAX release, the studio has confirmed.

The film arrives in the UK on April 18th, 2014 and finds Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), busy with life’s complications.

Between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough.

Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away, but that’s a promise he just can’t keep.

Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

The 2D film is being digitally re-mastered for IMAX for release “around the world”.

“After the enormous worldwide success of The Amazing Spider-Man, we’re looking forward to partnering again with Marc Webb, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach, and our friends at Sony Pictures to offer IMAX fans around the world an opportunity to experience this highly anticipated film in the immersive IMAX 3D format,” said Greg Foster, CEO of IMAX Entertainment and Senior Executive Vice President, IMAX Corp.
