Amazon has ordered a ten-hour series featuring Tom Clancy’s CIA agent, Jack Ryan.

streamedTV reports the show will star John Krasinski as Ryan and will be an all-new “reinvention” of the character who has previously been played on the big screen by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine.

The series follows Ryan as he uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the centre of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.

“We’re excited to add the Jack Ryan global franchise to our robust originals pipeline,” said Roy Price, Head of Amazon Studios.

“Our customers will enjoy a compelling adaptation of the action-packed spy thriller book series, further raising the bar for the quality level of storytelling that has made Prime Video a leading destination for content.”

Amazon Prime Video can be accessed on selected Smart TVs, via smartphone and tablet apps and via Amazon’s Fire TV stick and Fire TV.
